To my wonderful mum who went through so much of pain in her life to ensure we had a decent life. She inculcated good values, feed us with spiritual teaching and been a wonderful mother.
She would invite any destitute and beggars who pass our home and provide them with decent, freshly cooked food and packed them more after giving few pieces of old clothes and some money.
She never expects anything in return except their blessed words. She will explain to us that, " You may never know who visited our house?
They could be the Good Lord himself. Gods come in may forms. It's our duty to serve them as though God visiting our home."
She taught us to do charity at a very young age, an act that we continue till today. Pray to God she recovers
her mental strength fast from her operation. Always reminds us of accumulating good deeds"punya" rather than material possessions as our foremost goal in life.
Until today, we remain as individuals with minimum material desired children. Her act of giving become our precious begotten "wealth."
True, the magnetic pull of current modern living lifestyles, the chase for happiness through material accumulation and the constant worries over affordability of living doest attract to our mind so much except for continuous education and spirituality.
Its though field out there to compete with "rough and rugged" living environment when we are measured by external nices of material holdings and status in society. Amidst this constant pull and subtle insinuation from peers, friends, relatives, even loved ones to be on par with so called "successful persons", we, her kids remain not so perturbed. Firmly believed that the happiness from within as foremost wealth.
We'd rather work hard to live and balance life, than to possess all those grand large houses, cars, lands, golds, etc. This is her wish too....
At the age of 74 years old, her heart remains as strong as a young man, but her mental resilience had taken a downward slope. Get well soon mum.
